Tips for Success

Get Help

  • Get parents, teachers, volunteers, students, coaches and friends to help sell tickets.
  • Make sure your volunteers know the fundraising goal and how the money will be spent.
  • Give your volunteers individual goals to reach.
  • Have an incentive to keep your volunteers motivated. For example, the top fundraiser could receive a gift, or the incentive gift certificate given to your school donated by Golf San Antonio.

Utilize Your Resources

  • Emphasize the fact that all donations are tax deductible and that 100% of the money collected goes directly to your school.
  • Mail a letter from your school explaining the fundraiser and what you are raising funds for and your goal.
  • Send an e-mail encouraging your PTA, booster clubs and staff to purchase tickets online at www.valerotexasopen.org and select the Chip In for Schools Good Any Day Ticket.
  • Promote the fundraiser on your school marquee so drivers passing by know they can buy tickets from your school.
  • Post the promotional posters provided by Golf San Antonio on your school campus and other helpful places.
  • Put the information on your school web site with a link to www.valerotexasopen.org.

Raise Your Grade

  • Emphasize and promote a stocking stuffer idea to family, friends, colleagues and neighbors.
  • Ask local businesses to display a sign in their establishment on your behalf, letting people know about the program and who the funds will help and where they can purchase tickets.
  • Sell tickets at athletic events, post an ad in your football program and have an announcement made over the speaker system to remind people to purchase tickets.

Helpful Tips for Volunteers

  • Tickets sold through the Chip In for Schools program are $15. At the gate, the same ticket will cost $25.
  • 100% of all the money collected goes to your school.
  • Donors will want to know your fundraising goal, what school program will receive the money, and how the money will be used.
  • Children 12 and under are free at the Valero Texas Open.
  • Checks are to be made out to: Golf San Antonio.
  • MasterCard, Visa, & American Express and e-checks are accepted when purchasing tickets online at www.valerotexasopen.org.

Reminders

  • Make sure all checks are made out to Golf San Antonio. If they make the check out to the school by mistake, please endorse the back of the check to Golf San Antonio.
  • Return all checks and cash in an envelope with your school name and benefiting program name written on the front.
  • You are responsible for returning all unsold tickets. Golf San Antonio assumes the right to penalize you for any unsold tickets that are not returned.
